Flood in Cropton on Yorkshire Day 2014
A cloudburst on 1st August 2014 (Yorkshire Day) brought flooding to Cropton high street. After a session of thunder and lightening the heavens opened and torrential rain caused the main road through Cropton to look like a river, with an overflow of water filling the drives to the houses.
As Cropton is around 450 feet above sea level it is not often prone to flooding but the amount of rain that fell in a short time caused a few problems for cars travelling through the village.
The drives were starting to flood, but luckily the water subsided fairly quickly. Many thanks to Pat Wright for sending her photos.
