CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
On Wednesday 21st December 2016 a Christmas carol service was held at St Gregory’s Church. The church was beautifully decorated and the hand held candles created a delightful atmosphere. After a lovely service, wine and refreshments were served. Many thanks to the church for an enjoyable festive evening.
SANTA CLAUS VISIT
The Ryedale Lions brought Santa to the village on Monday 5th December 2016. It was good to see Santa on his brightly coloured sleigh, with festive music adding to the occasion. The Lions were raising money for local charities.
THORNTON LE DALE UKULELE BAND
The village hall hosted the welcome return of the Thornton-le-Dale Ukulele Band on Friday 25th November. A group of over 20 Ukulele players played a wide range of music and there was a lot of audience participation involved. Many thanks to the band for an entertaining night.
On Saturday 29th November 2016 a Christmas Fair was held in the village hall. The hall was full of stalls selling crafts, cakes and home produce, honey products and bric-a-brac. There was also a tombola. Afternoon teas were served by helpers. The fair raised £454.60 for St Gregory’s Church. Many thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make the event a success.
THE 15th PEACOCK QUIZ
The Peacock quiz number 15 was held in the village hall on Friday 11th November 2016. Pies, mushy peas & gravy were served, followed by tea/coffee and home made biscuits. There was very good attendance at the quiz and it was a most enjoyable evening. The event raised over £160 for village hall funds. Many thanks to Richard and Pat, plus all who helped in any way.
On Friday 21st October 2016 Fool’s Gold gave a concert in Village Hall. Carol and Steve Robson are a duo playing a number of instruments, plus vocals, that combine storytelling with traditional folk style music. The stories and accompanying slideshow presentation was engaging and very nostalgic for many of the audience. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Visit Fool’s Gold website.
MALTON MALE VOICE CHOIR
The Malton Male Voice Choir came to the village hall on Friday 7th October 2016. They provided a very enjoyable concert with music for all tastes. The musical director was Vivian Wilcock. Thanks to the choir for a lovely evening.
9th CLASSIC CAR & MOTORCYCLE RALLY
We were pleased to welcome a number of classic cars and motorcycles to the village on Sunday 21st August 2016. The 9th gathering of vintage vehicles in the village hall field was again very popular this year. In the hall there were refreshments, bric-a-brac stalls, tombola and local honey for sale. The event raised over £1,400 for village hall funds. Many thanks to all visitors, helpers and donations. We have some photos of the rally.
AFTERNOON TEAS & STALLS
On Saturday 30th July 2016 a well attended afternoon teas and stalls event was held in the village hall. Homemade teas were served and a number of stalls including bric-a-brac, plants, cakes, tombola & raffle raised £614.80 for St Gregory’s Church funds. Many thanks to all helpers and those who supported this fund raiser for the church.
FERNWOOD GARDEN – NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME
Jean and Dick Feaster kindly opened their Fernwood garden on Sunday 3rd July 2016. The garden was open on behalf of the National Garden Scheme and raised over £1,200. The village hall was open for teas and raised over £600 for a new village notice board.
