Tour de Yorkshire – Cycle Race – Cropton 2015

The first day of the Tour de Yorkshire international cycle race passed through Cropton village on Friday 1st May 2015. It was quite a spectacle as nearly 150 professional cyclists pedalled past the New Inn Pub and the village Chestnut Tree. The Tour started in Bridlington and finished on the North Bay at Scarborough. From Cropton the race went via Rosedale, the North York Moors and Whitby.
Cropton Garage arranged an excellent display of small bicycles to greet the riders at the Shoulder of Mutton – the southern entrance to Cropton village.
There were a good number of spectators waiting in Cropton for the Tour de Yorkshire cyclists to arrive.
The first riders through were a breakaway group of five cyclists. They were at least two minutes ahead of the following ‘Peleton’ group.
